Gesamtanlage Friedrichshütte, Cultural heritage monument in Ruppertsburg, Germany

Friedrichshütte is an industrial complex with multiple manufacturing buildings and a classical manor house built in 1808 set in the Horloff River valley. The site remains operational today, producing metal castings using modern induction furnace technology and computer-aided design.

A count founded this ironworks in 1707, which came under lease to the major industrial firm Buderus in 1731. The facility developed over three centuries into a center of metalworking in the region.

The site shows how craft and manufacturing coexisted here across centuries. You can observe buildings from different periods that reveal how work and techniques evolved in this place.

The site is visible from public paths and roads surrounding the property but remains in private operation and is not designed for public visits. You can appreciate the buildings and their architecture from outside viewpoints along the valley roads.

The site retains its original water supply system from 1904, originally created to support wood carbonization operations in the area. This historic pipeline network continues to serve modern production, showing how old infrastructure adapted to new methods.
