Schloss Eickhof

Schloss Eickhof is a brick château with Neo-Gothic features built in Liebenau during the 1800s. The building shows Tudor elements including high gables and ornamental details characteristic of German 19th-century design.

The château was built around 1890 on the foundations of an earlier manor house. During the 20th century it served different purposes, including as a Hitler Youth training facility and later as an officers' club.

The château grounds incorporate Japanese garden elements within the traditional European castle park, creating an intersection between Western and Eastern design principles.

The estate today houses a Zen monastery offering meditation seminars as well as offices for a landscaping company. Visitors should check in advance as the property is partly in private use.

The estate features a blend of Japanese garden design elements integrated into its European parkland. This combination of Eastern and Western garden traditions creates a distinctive character for the grounds.
