Schloss Traidendorf, Renaissance castle in Kallmünz, Germany.
Schloss Traidendorf is a three-story stone building with rendered facades in Kallmünz, Bavaria. The structure now contains 13 residential units and houses a tavern with a beer garden on the ground level.
The castle evolved from an iron hammer mill controlled by the Wittelsbach family in medieval times. Over time, this facility was expanded and transformed into a residential structure by the Renaissance period.
The castle displays typical Renaissance features with its stone facades and portal bearing a statue of Mary. This design shapes the appearance of Kallmünz to this day.
The building is now residential and can be viewed from outside, while the tavern operates on Sundays and public holidays. Its location in central Kallmünz makes it easily accessible on foot.
The building conceals the history of a water power installation in its foundations, originally driving grinding stones for glass. Today, the castle harnesses this historic water power to generate electricity.
