Zürichhaus, Office building in Hamburg-Altstadt, Germany
The Zürichhaus is an office complex in central Hamburg with a distinctive curved glass front facing Willy-Brandt-Straße. The design combines modern glass elements with brick facades that integrate naturally with the surrounding commercial architecture.
Built between 1990 and 1993, the complex replaced a historic Hamburg residence that previously occupied the site. Its development followed an architectural competition held in 1988 that determined the building's design.
The building integrates water features and greenery within its atrium spaces, creating inviting spots for visitors and workers. These design choices give the complex a distinctive character that stands out in the commercial district.
The complex offers office space in various sizes and is conveniently located in the business district. Visitors can view the building from outside or explore the entrance areas where the architecture is most apparent.
The building features a comb-shaped floor plan that maximizes space efficiency and creates an unusual structural arrangement. This distinctive design allows multiple offices to be accessed directly from central corridors.
