Podbi-Park, Architectural ensemble in Vahrenwald-List, Germany
Podbi-Park is an architectural complex in Hannover featuring multiple Art Nouveau buildings with ornate terracotta decorations across their facades. The site now houses offices, a district library, software companies, and a municipal administration branch.
The complex was built in 1913 as a biscuit factory for Bahlsen, designed by architect Karl Siebrecht. Major renovation work in the 1990s transformed the historic structures into a contemporary business location with an added modern hotel building.
Artworks by Georg Herting, Julius Diez, and Adolf Hölzel shape the appearance of these early 20th century buildings. These artistic details show how factory structures were designed as impressive works worthy of public attention.
The site is easily accessible and offers various amenities nearby, including restaurants and shops. Visitors can freely view the exterior facades and explore the detailed decorations of these buildings on foot.
A distinctive terracotta frieze adorns the entrance of the former Bahlsen administration building, showing crafted details from the early industrial era. The modern hotel structure added later received recognition from German architects for how it was integrated with the historic surroundings.
