Spitalkirche Heilig Geist

The Spitalkirche Heilig Geist features three naves with rectangular floor plan divided into six bays, supported by robust columns with bandwork stucco decorations.

The church was established around 1350 on the site of an earlier structure, following the founding of the hospital by Ludwig the Bavarian in 1319.

Renaissance murals adorn the walls, while the main altar from the late 17th century displays an oil painting of the Holy Spirit by Johann Kaspar Sing.

The church maintains regular opening hours and continues to serve both religious functions and medical facility needs in central Ingolstadt.

Four preserved baker guild standards remain in the church, representing the historical connection between religious life and local trade organizations.
