Modelleisenbahn Faszination Gotthardbahn

Modelleisenbahn Faszination Gotthardbahn is a museum featuring a detailed H0 scale reproduction of the Gotthard railway's northern ascent. The layout covers 250 square meters with 930 meters of track representing the final 30 kilometers approaching the summit tunnel.

A private collection of model trains was built over many decades before the museum opened to the public in 2001. The collection found a home in a converted agricultural building that had been repurposed for this purpose.

The collection displays how trains operated on Swiss railways during the 1960s and 1970s. Visitors can observe the types of locomotives and train formations that ran on these lines during that era.

The model incorporates numerous tunnels, bridges, and viaducts alongside thousands of miniature trees throughout the landscape. These structural elements demonstrate how the original route handles the challenging terrain of the Alpine crossing.
