Hedwigsburg, Renaissance pleasure palace in Kissenbrück, Germany.

Hedwigsburg is a Renaissance palace in Kissenbrück featuring a spacious layout with several garden areas. A four-row lime tree avenue stretches across the grounds toward a hedge labyrinth known as Schneckenberg, with an elevation point where the paths reach their highest spot.

Built in 1578 for Hedwig of Brandenburg, wife of Duke Julius of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, the palace served the noble family as a summer retreat. The estate reflects the building styles and garden design fashionable during that era when such pleasure palaces became popular destinations for aristocratic leisure.

A statue called 'Fromme Johanna' stands at the end of the main avenue, reflecting how art and architecture intertwine in the landscape design. Visitors walking through notice how such sculptures marked important points in the estate's layout and remain part of how people experience the grounds today.

The grounds are accessible via a gravel path starting near the 'Wilder Jäger' bus stop with no entrance fee required. Wearing sturdy shoes is advisable since unpaved pathways can vary in condition depending on weather and season.

The estate comprises two separate manorial properties: the eastern Rittergut Kissenbrück and the western Rittergut Hedwigsburg, separated by natural boundaries. This division allows visitors walking through to notice how each section developed its own character over time.
