Schlossgarten Karlsruhe

Schlossgarten Karlsruhe is an English garden extending north from the palace with winding paths, flower beds, and open green spaces throughout. The grounds feature various planted areas, small water features, and sitting spots for visitors to rest.

The garden was founded in 1715 and went through different style changes from baroque and French designs before becoming an English landscape garden in 1787. These shifts show how garden tastes changed over the decades.

For more than 300 years, this space has served as a gathering place where people celebrate, stroll, and attend events together. The carefully tended lawns and trees create an open area that draws visitors from across the city.

The garden has several entry points and is easy to reach on foot, especially from nearby train stations. Visitors will find benches, walking paths, and a playground scattered throughout.

Hidden within the garden are artificial caves and a valley built between 1767 and 1773 during a phase when Chinese garden styles influenced the design. These unusual features come from a time when exotic design ideas were fashionable.
