The building, completed in 1998, represents the first new city hall construction in Berlin following the German reunification, replacing the former Hotel Berolina.
The Berolina Art Gallery within the building regularly presents exhibitions, including works from artists with disabilities, demonstrating the city's commitment to inclusive art.
Located at Karl-Marx-Allee, the building houses essential municipal services, including one of the district's three citizen registration offices for administrative procedures.
The district plans to relocate to House of Statistics by 2028 to avoid rent increases, with intentions to construct a new city hall building.
