The Bionicum is an interactive science museum in Nuremberg that features eight thematic areas with hands-on stations and digital content. Visitors discover connections between biological systems and technological developments through direct experiments.
The museum was created in 2014 as a collaborative project between the local zoo, the city, and the state of Bavaria. This partnership has connected research, education, and regional identity at one location since opening.
The museum demonstrates how natural forms and processes inspire technical solutions and engineering approaches. Visitors can see firsthand how nature and innovation connect to each other.
The museum is located on the grounds of Nuremberg Zoo and is free for zoo visitors to enter. Guided tours are available on weekends and holidays at set times.
In the children's section, young visitors can conduct their own experiments at special stations and learn playfully about animals and natural phenomena. This hands-on approach makes scientific concepts directly tangible and engaging for children.
