St.-Fronleichnam-Kirche, Modern church building in Essen-Bochold, Germany.

St.-Fronleichnam-Kirche is a modern church building in Essen-Bochold with a distinctive left tower housing three bells. Its interior features a main altar made from red Main sandstone, with the original high altar table preserved within the design.

Construction of this church began in 1932 following initial plans from 1925, succeeding a temporary structure made from three former Krupp barracks built in 1919. After suffering substantial damage during World War II, the building was reconstructed through 1962 and subsequently modified.

The church houses a Pietà by Franz Guntermann, an artwork displayed at an international Christian art exhibition in Rome in 1934. This piece shapes the interior space and demonstrates the artistic significance of the building for the community.

The crypt was consecrated in 1991 and serves regularly for school services and community religious gatherings. When visiting, check the regular opening hours in advance, especially if you plan to attend any services held there.

The interior contains frescoes and artworks that fill the space with a spiritual quality beyond typical church architecture. This artistic richness makes the building a distinctive destination for art lovers and those interested in modern ecclesiastical spaces.
