Schloss Ascholding, Medieval castle in Dietramszell, Germany.

Schloss Ascholding is a castle in Dietramszell featuring an L-shaped structure with two wings and distinctive architectural elements. The building displays hip and steep rooflines, a roof turret, and an integrated chapel located at Schlossstrasse 42.

The castle first appeared in records around 1170 and underwent major changes in 1580 when Andreas Ligsalz redesigned it. Later modifications in 1811 by Baron von Maderny added new sections that completed the building's form.

The integrated chapel within the castle reflects the religious life that shaped daily routines here across centuries. It shows how faith was woven into the everyday structure of the residence.

The castle is located at Schlossstrasse 42 and registered as a heritage monument in the local registry. Access to view the exterior is straightforward from Dietramszell, and the architectural details are visible from the surrounding grounds.

Excavations beneath the castle and its adjacent farmyard have revealed artifacts from medieval and early modern periods. These buried layers reveal how settlement and building activity continued across different eras.
