The Baur Redoubt is a flat-roofed, ring-shaped classical fortification built between 1828 and 1841 as the western flank tower of the Reduit Tilly. It measures 50 by 79 metres, with limestone-clad facades by Leo von Klenze and walls up to 4 metres thick. Inside are 58 barrel-vaulted gun casemates on two levels, and a long oval courtyard.

The Baur Redoubt was built between 1828 and 1841 as the western flank tower of the Reduit Tilly, part of the bridgehead on the Danube's south bank of the Ingolstadt state fortress. The plan came from fortress engineer Major General Michael von Streiter, while Leo von Klenze supplied the limestone-clad facades. It has borne the name of quartermaster general Carl von Baur (1777–1847) only since 1911, when an earlier fortress building of that name was demolished.

The name Turm Baur has been used since 1911 for the Bavarian quartermaster general Carl von Baur (1777–1847); an earlier fortress building, demolished in 1911, had carried it before. Today the building houses the Städtische Simon-Mayr-Sing- und Musikschule Ingolstadt, and in summer the long oval inner courtyard serves as an open-air stage for the Stadttheater Ingolstadt and as an open-air cinema.

The Baur Redoubt stands on the southern Danube bank at the western flank of the Reduit Tilly, within the Ingolstadt bridgehead. Its footprint measures 50 by 79 metres, with walls up to 4 metres thick, so allow time to walk around the outside. The long oval inner courtyard is used in summer as an open-air stage and cinema, so check locally before planning a visit.

The name Turm Baur only passed to this building in 1911, when an earlier fortress structure bearing Generalquartiermeister Carl von Baur's name was demolished. Its near-identical twin, the Turm Triva, stands to the east as the other flank tower of the Reduit Tilly.
