Kunstkraftwerk, Digital art museum in West Leipzig, Germany.
Kunstkraftwerk is an artist-run space in West Leipzig, Germany, dedicated to digital media art. It occupies multiple floors of a converted industrial building and features immersive audiovisual installations that completely surround visitors.
Originally built as a heating plant, the building was transformed in 2016 into Germany's first permanent museum for digital art. This conversion established Leipzig as a center for innovative multimedia exhibitions.
The space presents exhibitions that blend digital technology with classical artworks, including interpretations of Salvador Dali and Claude Monet. Visitors find themselves surrounded by large-scale projections that reinterpret art history in contemporary ways.
Allow around two hours to explore the various exhibitions at your own pace. The spaces are generally accessible on ground level, but there are multiple staircases between floors, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
The space produces original multimedia shows through international collaboration between artists, designers, and technologists. The annual Bright Festival Connect brings these professionals together to create experimental forms of creative collaboration.
