Kriechbaumhof, Architectural heritage monument in Haidhausen, Munich, Germany.
Kriechbaumhof is a two-story structure with wooden block construction and a half-hipped roof covered in wooden shingles located on Preysingstrasse 71. A gallery runs around the entire exterior, forming a distinctive architectural feature of the building.
The structure originated as an Alpine farmhouse in the 17th century at its original location on Wolfgangstrasse. It was dismantled in 1976 and reconstructed at its current site in 1985 using the original components.
The building displays traditional Alpine construction methods with wooden framing that visitors can observe in its design and materials. The gallery encircling the exterior shows how local builders approached shelter and workspace in mountainous areas.
The building sits in the Haidhausen neighborhood and is visible from the street, though it currently serves as headquarters for an Alpine organization. You can easily view its architectural details from Preysingstrasse without needing special access.
The structure was completely disassembled and reassembled using its original components at a new location, a rare practice for preserving historic buildings. This process saved the craftsmanship and materials from centuries past.
