Schloss, Palace ruins and park in Świerklaniec, Poland
Schloss Neudeck is a palace ruin and park complex near Świerklaniec with remains of several historical buildings including a neo-Gothic chapel and Cavalier Palace. The estate spreads across a large area with extensive gardens, water features, and building structures from different periods.
The estate belonged to the Henckel von Donnersmarck family from 1623 onward and was developed over centuries as an aristocratic residence. The main buildings were destroyed by the Red Army in 1945 during World War II, though some secondary structures and the park survived.
The grounds once served as a gathering place for European nobility and represented the power of the Henckel von Donnersmarck family. Today the architecture and gardens still show traces of that aristocratic way of life.
The grounds are open to walk through and explore the gardens and remaining buildings on your own. Comfortable shoes are recommended since you will be walking across a large property with paths through the park.
Several original lion statues and an iron gate from the palace were preserved and relocated to parks in the nearby cities of Zabrze and Gliwice. These pieces give visitors a sense of the lavish decoration that once adorned the original complex.
