Vogelkoje Meeram

The Vogelkoje Meeram features a central freshwater pond of 3000 square meters with four bow-shaped channels extending from each corner for duck capture.

From 1867 to 1935, hunters at Vogelkoje Meeram captured 417,569 ducks, with teal species representing ninety percent of the total catch.

The facility demonstrates traditional hunting methods of the North Sea islands, representing a period when communities relied on seasonal wildlife harvesting.

Located 2 kilometers south of Norddorf and 2.5 kilometers from Nebel center, visitors can access nature trails that circle the pond and former trapping structures.

The complex included a drawbridge system that trappers raised during hunting season to prevent unauthorized access to the facility.
