Wallfahrtskapelle Liebfrauenbrunn

The Liebfrauenbrunn Chapel stands between Werbach and Werbachhausen, built from red Tauber Valley sandstone with Gothic architectural features. Inside, a large ceiling painting displays Mary with the infant Jesus, while a modern building from 1995 provides visitor facilities and a sacristy.

The site originated in the 15th century as an open-air chapel near a venerated spring. The current structure was rebuilt in 1902 and dedicated to the Mother of Sorrows, replacing the earlier building.

The chapel takes its name from a sacred spring that has drawn pilgrims for centuries. This connection to water and healing has made the site a place where people come to express their faith in a natural setting.

The chapel serves as an active pilgrimage destination, particularly between May and October. Modern visitor facilities and a sacristy ensure comfortable conditions year-round for those coming to pray or observe the surroundings.

An ancient stone carved with an image of the Virgin Mary once stood at this location and was venerated across generations. This long-standing tradition connected to the spring has shaped pilgrimage customs that continue to this day.
