Weinbergbrücke Rathenow, Steel footbridge in Rathenow, Germany.
The Weinbergbrücke is a steel footbridge in Rathenow that spans 348 meters across two arms of the Havel River and the Heller Loch tributary. It connects the Optikpark area with the Weinberg recreational zone and provides passage for both pedestrians and cyclists.
Construction of the bridge began in December 2012 and was completed after approximately 22 months in October 2014. The project represented an important infrastructure development linking local recreational areas.
The bridge acquired its name through a community voting process where residents submitted more than 100 different proposals. This naming reflects how deeply the structure is connected to local identity.
The bridge is open year-round and provides ample space for pedestrians and cyclists to walk side by side. The 10-meter clearance height allows small boats to pass through without affecting foot traffic.
The structure received the German Engineering Prize in 2016, a rare honor for pedestrian bridges. This award recognized the innovative steel design and careful engineering behind the project.
