Rittergut Ohr

Rittergut Ohr is a two-story country house with a hipped roof located near the Weser River in Lower Saxony. Its grounds feature terraced gardens arranged in distinct levels that descend toward the riverside landscape.

The estate was granted as a fief to the von Hake family by Otto von Everstein in 1307 and remains under their ownership today. This continuous family stewardship spans more than 700 years of the land's development.

The estate centers on a Renaissance chapel built in 1595, where you can see interior furnishings and details from the early 19th century. An octagonal garden pavilion nearby reflects the refined tastes of its former owners.

The estate sits near the Weser river valley and can be reached via Emmerthal's road network. Keep in mind that the main building is privately owned, so the outdoor gardens and grounds offer the best opportunity to explore the property.

The landscape garden was deliberately designed by Georg Adolph von Hake to create distinct viewing areas along the Weser valley. This thoughtful garden arrangement reveals how the family choreographed visitors' experiences of the surrounding countryside.
