Schloss Grabow

Schloss Grabow is a castle estate in Möckern, Saxony-Anhalt, built on an artificial hill and surrounded by mature trees. The two-story manor house features baroque design and stands on the foundations of a medieval water castle, with substantial fortress remains still visible on the elevated site.

The property received its first documented mention in 946, and a water castle with substantial fortifications was built here in the 12th century. Over later centuries, the original fortress structures were preserved and gradually incorporated into the baroque manor house that still defines the estate today.

The castle's name reflects its location and setting, and visitors can still see how medieval fortress ruins were skillfully integrated into the baroque architecture. This blend of different time periods is visible throughout the property and shows how successive generations built upon what came before.

The ground floor of the castle has several rooms that can be used for events, and overnight stays are possible with advance arrangement. Visitors should check ahead as the estate is not regularly open to the public and tours typically need to be arranged beforehand.

Since 1997, Stanislaus von Eichborn has owned the castle and transformed its former use as a school into a private family residence. His family now lives in the manor house and continues to maintain the historic structures on the property.
