Alter Friedhof, Cultural heritage cemetery in Offenbach am Main, Germany
The Alter Friedhof extends across a large area with a central avenue of plane trees and sections for different types of burials.
Established in 1832 after the city outgrew its churchyard, the cemetery doubled its size in 1860 and received prominent entrance buildings in 1882.
The cemetery contains separate sections for Jewish burials, military memorials from World War I, and graves of numerous regional political figures and artists.
The cemetery opens from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM during summer months and offers accessible parking spaces near the main entrance at Friedhofstraße 21.
In 1891, the cemetery housed one of Germany's first crematoriums, whose original doors remain integrated into the current cemetery wall.
