Dorfkirche Lichterfelde, Medieval church in Lichterfelde, Germany
The Dorfkirche Lichterfelde is a medieval church built with fieldstone and featuring large windows with segmented arches added after the Reformation. The structure stands on spacious grounds that provide room for outdoor activities and commemorations.
The structure originated as a wooden building around 1230 and was later rebuilt in stone to serve the expanding community of Flemish settlers in the area. Modifications to windows and the overall design reflect how the building adapted to changing religious and community needs over centuries.
The church hosts regular worship services, concerts, and literary readings that bring together the local Protestant community. These gatherings make it a cultural meeting point where residents experience both spiritual and artistic expressions.
The church is surrounded by open lawns that make it easy to walk around and explore the grounds at your own pace. Keep in mind that cemetery areas nearby should be treated respectfully when visiting.
Specialists used electric and physical measurements to pinpoint exactly where the original church structure once stood. Today this discovery is marked subtly on the ground, making it easy to walk past without noticing.

This is the church where I was able to get married in 2013. It is very charming and shows respect for small communities. Simple and without too many extra details. As a French person, I appreciated the local community's gesture of offering this building freely for such a special day.
