Wustrau church

Wustrau church is a stone building featuring late Gothic design with three large arched windows on each side. A square tower was added in 1781 to complete the structure.

The original structure was destroyed by lightning in 1694 and later rebuilt. Another lightning strike in 1756 caused destruction again, followed by reconstruction and the addition of a northern porch in 1883.

The name comes from the settlement of Wustrau that developed in this location. Inside, visitors can see medieval artworks and wooden columns that support the balconies.

The church is active today and used by evangelical congregations for regular services. Visitors should note that access during worship services may vary depending on availability.

An epitaph honoring Prussian General Hans Joachim von Zieten is displayed inside the church, while his grave is located on the north grounds. The interior ceiling features an unusual segmented painting design that reflects earlier artistic methods.
