The Stadtbad Zittau features distinct architectural elements including separate swimming pools for men and women, along with steam baths and classical design details.
The foundation stone of this public bath was laid in 1871, following the evaluation of the previous Augustusbad facility that had served the community since 1816.
The bathhouse became a central meeting point for residents and visitors from Bohemia, with attendance increasing from 66,700 to 75,000 visitors between 1894 and 1896.
The facility offers swimming programs including parent-baby water activities and weekly swimming lessons every Wednesday at 16:45 for young families.
When constructed, the bathhouse incorporated advanced technology for its time, including a swimming pool capable of generating artificial waves.
