München-Perlach station, S-Bahn railway station in Perlach, Germany
Munich-Perlach station is a two-story Art Nouveau building with a gabled roof in Munich's southeastern district, operating as an S-Bahn station. The complex comprises a main pavilion with distinctive roof shapes and a ground-level side pavilion facing the tracks.
The station opened on June 6, 1904, as part of the Munich-Giesing-Kreuzstrasse railway line that improved regional rail connections. It reflected how Bavaria was being integrated into the modern railway network at that time.
The station building displays hallmark Art Nouveau features with curved lines and ornamental details that reflected the importance of transportation around 1900. Visitors can still see this characteristic style of the era in the façade and door frames today.
Access to platforms 1 and 2 is wheelchair-accessible, and parking spaces are available at Stephensonplatz for visitors. Ticket machines for different pass types are located at the facility.
The station retains its original early 20th-century construction while functioning as a modern transportation hub in Munich's public transit network. This blend of preserved historical elements and contemporary operations makes it a valuable example of station architecture from that era.
