Schloss Höllrich

Schloss Höllrich is a castle in Karsbach built with two stories, three wings, and round corner towers topped with onion domes. A gabled gatehouse connects to the main structure through an arch bridge and the entire property is surrounded by a moat.

The castle originally developed from a four-wing structure and was later modified to its current three-wing layout. These changes reflect shifting ownership and the evolving needs of successive occupants over time.

The castle is seen by locals and visitors as a landmark shaped by centuries of noble life and family traditions. Its design reflects how German nobility wanted to live: strong enough to protect, but comfortable enough for daily family use.

Access to the castle is through marked routes in Karsbach, with parking available near the complex. Wear sturdy shoes as the ground around the historic property can be uneven in places.

The castle's polygonal upper floors show a rare architectural style not commonly seen in other Bavarian castles. The moat that encircled the property was standard for noble estates of its era, serving as both protection and visual grandeur.
