Founded in 772, the Münster Frauenchiemsee represents Germany's earliest nunnery, where Blessed Irmgard served as the first abbess during the 9th century.
The church contains religious artifacts, including the preserved remains of Blessed Irmgard, which were reunited during a ceremony in 2003.
Visitors can reach the church through regular boat services from mainland Bavaria, with guided tours available to explore the architectural features.
Recent archaeological studies revealed an octagonal Romanesque structure beneath the ground, measuring 19 meters in diameter with eight supporting pillars.
