Hotel Bristol, former hotel in Bonn, Germany
Hotel Bristol was a mid-size hotel in Bonn located on Poppelsdorfer Allee in the Südstadt district. The seven-story building operated from 1972 to 2021 and provided 116 rooms in single and double configurations, along with meeting spaces that could accommodate up to 350 people.
The hotel was designed by architect Ernst van Dorp and opened in 1972, serving as accommodation for many visitors during Bonn's time as the capital of West Germany. After renovations in 1991 and 2008 and a change of ownership to Centro Hotel Group in 2017, the hotel closed in 2021 and was demolished in 2024.
The hotel stood at a busy street corner with good access via nearby bus stops and walking paths to the city's main attractions. Simple and comfortable facilities, including breakfast options, made it a practical base for exploring the city.
The hotel hosted several high-level state visitors, including East German leader Erich Honecker, who hosted a dinner in honor of Chancellor Helmut Kohl in 1987. These diplomatic visits during the Cold War reflected the establishment's role in facilitating important political meetings.
