Kreuzkirche

Kreuzkirche is a Gothic Revival church in the Südstadt district of Bonn with a spire reaching about 61 meters high. Inside, four organs with approximately 65 registers are housed within its stone walls.

The church's foundation stone was laid in 1866 under architect August Dieckhoff's design. After wartime destruction, the building was reconstructed between 1951 and 1954.

The church serves as a focal point for the Protestant community in Bonn and shapes the character of the Südstadt neighborhood. Regular musical performances and worship services draw visitors from across the city.

The church is accessible Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for those wishing to explore the interior or attend services. It is advisable to check opening times in advance, as these may change for special events.

Underground air raid shelters beneath the church provided refuge for hundreds of Bonn residents during bombing raids in 1944 and 1945. These subterranean spaces remain a lesser-known testament to the city's wartime experience.
