Theater Karlshorst, Cultural performance venue in Karlshorst, Berlin, Germany.
The Theater Karlshorst contains an auditorium with round pillars, capitals, and a sweeping lodge that accommodates 600 seats within its neoclassical structure.
Built between 1948 and 1949 as Military Object No. 5, the theater emerged as Germany's first post-war theater construction, serving Soviet Army members stationed in Berlin.
The venue featured performances by notable artists including David Oistrach and Galina Ulanowa, establishing itself as a center for German-Soviet cultural exchange.
The theater building currently houses the Shostakovich Music School Berlin-Lichtenberg and will reopen in 2026 as KAHO, offering theater, cinema, and concert spaces.
The structure incorporates the preserved ballroom of the former Deutsches Haus, which hosted variety shows and featured entertainment facilities including carousels and shooting galleries.
