Bunker An der Obertrave/Im Reinfeld, Air-raid shelter in Old City, Lübeck, Germany
The four-story concrete bunker features a brick facade with half-timbered elements designed to match the surrounding medieval architecture of Lübeck's Old City.
Built between 1940 and 1941 under the supervision of chief building officer Otto Hespeler, this structure was one of twenty high bunkers constructed for civilian protection.
The bunker serves as an educational monument to wartime civil defense, demonstrating how military structures were integrated into the historic urban landscape.
Located at the intersection of An der Obertrave and Im Reinfeld streets, the building remained in use for civil defense purposes until 1990.
The structure incorporates a false gallery walkway design on its exterior, mimicking the appearance of traditional Hanseatic merchant houses in the area.
