Schwanenburg is a restaurant and event venue in Limmer, housed since autumn 2012 in a converted building left over from Max Rüdenberg's feather factory, which he set up on the western part of the grounds in 1896. The site began as a shipyard: Johann Wilhelm Friedrich Hartje bought the plot on the west bank of the Leine in January 1837 for 205 Taler and built Bremer Böcke there from 1838. The name comes from the innkeeper August Stein, who leased the pleasure garden in 1890.

Shipbuilder Johann Wilhelm Friedrich Hartje bought a plot on the west bank of the Leine in 1837 for 205 Taler and ran a shipyard there from 1838, building Bremer Böcke for trade with Bremen. Merchant Johann Friedrich Andreas Geffers acquired the land in 1884 and turned former clay pits into ponds for a pleasure garden. In 1896 Max Rüdenberg bought the property, added a feather factory and in 1898 a building with two concert halls. From 1915 to 1920 it served as a reserve military hospital; the site was demolished in 1960 for the Westschnellweg.

The name Schwanenburg was coined in 1890 by the innkeeper August Stein, who leased the garden. It has no swan motif in the sources; the name was simply invented for the pleasure garden. From March 1951 the beer hall became a meeting place for the homophile movement, and since autumn 2012 a restaurant in a surviving building of the former feather factory has carried the name again.

The building sits centrally in Limmer and is easily accessible by public transport. Visitors should expect it to be a busy venue with varying availability depending on scheduled events.
