Westbad, Indoor swimming pool in Altlindenau, Leipzig, Germany.
Westbad is a three-story building with 1,200 square meters of space that includes a main hall, salons, studios, and catering areas. The layout allows different types of events to take place at the same time.
The building opened as a public indoor swimming pool and served that purpose for about 60 years. After renovations, it was transformed into the event venue it is today.
The building displays Bauhaus characteristics through its clean lines and open spaces that still reflect its original design intent. Visitors experience an architecture where function and appearance work together, as was typical for this era.
The building is located at Lindenauer Markt and can be reached by tram lines 7, 8, 15, and 130, followed by a short walk to the entrance. Parking is available in the nearby area for drivers.
The building generates more electricity than it uses through modern energy systems and combines passive house principles with event hosting capabilities. This blend of historic architecture with current energy efficiency is uncommon to find.
