Schloss Allmannshausen, Heritage château in Berg, Germany
Schloss Allmannshausen is a four-story castle on the edge of Lake Starnberg in Berg with a hipped roof, belvedere, portico, and Italian Renaissance elements. The building shapes the lakeside landscape with its refined facade and contains numerous interior rooms now available for events and group stays.
The castle was built in 1696 by master mason Caspar Feichtmayr from Bernried and replaced a wooden manor house that had stood since 1517. In 1881 the building underwent major renovation that expanded it from three to four stories.
The name comes from the Allmannshausen family who once managed the estate. Today, the rooms serve a Christian youth organization that uses the building for group stays and gatherings.
The estate sits directly on the lakeshore, offering a quiet and scenic location even though it is accessible from a nearby road. Visitors should expect this is an active private building and access may be limited.
The 1881 renovation created a stark contrast between the elaborate exterior facade and the plainly designed interior spaces. This gap between outside and inside reflects how the building was meant to impress from the lakeshore while keeping its interiors simple and functional.
