Ruhraue/Wiener Weide/Die Ey/Hofstiepel is a protected landscape area along the Ruhr, spanning 194.31 hectares between Rauendahl and Alter Fähre in Bochum-Stiepel. It includes meadows, hedgerows, the Rauendahl and Knösel streams, an orchard meadow, the Ruhr bank, filter basins of a former waterworks, fields and wooded patches.

The area was placed under nature protection in 2020 under the designation BO-009, covering 194.31 hectares. It lies on the former water extraction site between Rauendahl and Alter Fähre, bounded by the Ruhr to the south and the Rauendahlstraße and Brockhauser Straße to the north. The protection order covers meadows, hedgerows, the Rauendahl and Knöselbach streams, an orchard meadow, the Ruhr bank and the filter basins of the waterworks.

The name Ruhraue refers to the riverside landscape that has been part of local life for generations. Residents use the meadows and pathways to walk and experience nature in their immediate surroundings.

The reserve lies between Rauendahl in the west and Alter Fähre in Stiepel in the east, bounded by the Ruhr to the south and the Rauendahlstraße and Brockhauser Straße to the north. Paths cross meadows, the Rauendahlbach and Knöselsbach streams, an orchard meadow and the former waterworks filter basins. Dogs must be kept on a leash in the protected area.

The reserve's streams also hold the small meadow butterfly, the small mosaic darner and the blue-winged demoiselle, three insect species recorded in the Ruhraue. The site serves as a resting place for waders such as the ruff and the common snipe on migration.
