Freibad Niederkrüchten, Public swimming pool in Niederkrüchten, Germany

Freibad Niederkrüchten is a public swimming facility in Niederkrüchten with several pools of different sizes. There is a large sports pool for lap swimming, a separate children's area with a slide, and a large lawn where people can relax.

Freibad Niederkrüchten opened on 20 May 1967 and for decades drew visitors from Mönchengladbach, Neuss, Erkelenz, Wegberg, Schwalmtal and Brüggen. By its 30th anniversary in 1997, maintenance backlogs were already visible, but only unavoidable repairs were made. The pool closed after summer 2018 due to repair costs of around 185,000 euros. A citizens' petition gathered over 6,000 signatures, and on 21 August 2022 a referendum saw 63.66% of 4,909 voters support renovation, reversing the council's November 2021 decision.

The pool was long the only landmark and identifying feature of Niederkrüchten, and a popular social meeting place. In 2017 it marked its 50th anniversary together with the DLRG local group founded the same year, celebrated with the mayor, guests of honour and the friends' association Niederkrüchtener Bäder.

The pool lies in the south of Niederkrüchten, next to the football ground, the volunteer fire brigade and the police station. Six bus lines stop at Lindbruchplatz, and the school centre with Realschule and primary school is within walking distance. A car park has 112 marked spaces plus cycle parking; the water is heated to about 22 °C.

In 2022, local residents voted in a referendum to renovate the existing facility rather than pursue a shared project with other municipalities. This decision reflected strong community attachment to their own pool.
