Keramische Werkstatt am Bauhaus

The museum occupies the historic Stables Building within the Dornburg castle complex, featuring two original workshop spaces with equipment from the 1920s.

Walter Gropius established the ceramics workshop in 1920 as part of the Bauhaus school, where master potter Max Krehan trained students in traditional techniques.

The permanent exhibition displays ceramic objects, photographs, sketches, and historical documents that demonstrate the development of Bauhaus pottery production methods.

From April to October, visitors can explore the museum Tuesday through Sunday between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with winter hours ending at 4:00 PM.

The workshop maintains its original pottery wheel from the 1920s and clay preparation equipment, allowing visitors to experience authentic production processes.
