Gutshaus Siethen, denkmalgeschütztes Herrenhaus in Siethen, einem Ortsteil der Stadt Ludwigsfelde im Landkreis Teltow-Fläming im Land Brandenburg
Gutshaus Siethen is a manor house in Ludwigsfelde built around 1880 with neoclassical and neubarock elements. This brick structure features a simple white facade with period decorative details, a symmetrical layout with attic windows, and is currently being converted into 27 residential apartments.
The manor house was acquired in 1879 by Berlin merchant Hermann Badewitz and redesigned in 1880 to achieve a grander appearance. His son Gottfried substantially enlarged the building and commissioned renowned architect Franz Schwechten to create its fashionable design.
The name Gutshaus Siethen reflects its role as a manor house in the village of Siethen, rooted in Brandenburg's estate farming tradition. The brick walls and neoclassical design reveal how prominent families once displayed their wealth and status through their homes.
The manor house is accessible via Potsdamer Chaussee and features new parking spaces and an improved driveway for visitors and future residents. The grounds are fenced and display historic elements such as original brick walls and fence posts that mark the boundaries of the former estate.
From the new roof extension, you can see the Glauer Mountains on the horizon during clear days, offering a surprising view of the surrounding landscape. This detail is often overlooked, yet it reveals how the original estate location was deliberately chosen for its distant views.
