Marienpark Hasenberg, Church and park complex in Ensdorf, Germany
Marienpark Hasenberg is a complex combining a chapel and park grounds dedicated to religious devotion in Ensdorf. The chapel Maria Frieden was built between 1954 and 1956 and contains two stacked prayer spaces designed for different spiritual purposes.
Catholic priest Josef Goergen and chaplain Stephan Lorenz founded the park after World War II as a place for prayer and reflection. The chapel was built in the 1950s, followed by the addition of Fatima Square as a memorial space.
The grounds display religious artworks created by regional artists that reflect local devotion to Mary. Visitors encounter these works while walking and gain insight into how the community expresses its faith through sculpture.
The main entrance to the site is located on Taubentalstrasse, where a stone marker indicates the beginning of the grounds. The area is easily explored on foot, with memorials and sculptures arranged along paved pathways.
In 1957, Fatima Square was added to the grounds with a Madonna sculpture by artist Albert Johannes Zapp that commemorates a religious event in Fatima. This work is a distinctive feature that draws visitors interested in the connection between local and international religious devotion.
