Landschaftspark Heilmannshof, Botanical park in Krefeld, Germany
Landschaftspark Heilmannshof is a roughly 5.5 hectare (13.6 acre) green space in Krefeld that encompasses an ancient streambed called the Niepkuhlen, which dates from the ice age. The grounds on both sides of this historic waterway have been developed so that natural features and planted areas exist side by side.
The park was placed under monument protection in 1999 and received a Monument Award from the city of Krefeld in 2002. These designations show how the city values the preservation of this natural area.
The park reflects the community's commitment to protecting natural landscapes and shows how people work together to care for plants and wildlife. Visitors experience a place where conservation is practiced every day.
The park is easiest to walk in good weather, as damp conditions can make the paths muddy. Good footwear is therefore a practical choice for staying steady on the grounds.
In spring, over 300 varieties of azaleas and rhododendrons bloom across the grounds, turning the landscape into a riot of color. This floral display combines with a diverse collection of trees that shape the park's appearance year-round.
