Bildungs- und Erholungsstätte Langau, Educational and recreational center in Steingaden, Germany
The Langau educational and recreational facility is located in the Bavarian Alpine region between Wieskirche and Neuschwanstein Castle, offering accommodations in a mountain setting. The barrier-free guest house can accommodate up to 120 people and features conference rooms along with various catering options from full board to self-catering.
The facility was founded in 1965 by the Association of Christian Girl Scouts and developed into an independent organization. In 1971, the Bavarian Lutheran Church took over supervision of the center.
The center is a place where people with and without disabilities learn and spend time together. This togetherness shapes daily life here and shows in all offered activities and programs.
A visit is best planned in advance since the facility is reserved for groups and seminars. The site is easily accessible and its mountain location allows for walks in the surrounding landscape.
The center received the 2024 Innovation Award for Voluntary Work for its specialized support programs for families caring for members with dementia. This recognition shows that challenges of aging are met here with practical expertise and compassion.
