Ottendorfer Hütte, Mountain hut in Kirnitzschtal, Germany
Ottendorfer Hütte is a mountain lodge with two buildings at the valley entrance, offering accommodations in shared dormitories and private rooms for guests. The facility includes a restaurant, parking, and convenient access for hikers and climbers visiting the region.
Before 1989, the building served as a children's holiday camp, but was transformed into an Alpine lodge in 1999 with official partnership status from the German Alpine Club. This change made it a modern destination for hikers and climbers in the region.
Local artists and musicians gather here for concerts, readings, and lectures that bring the valley to life. It has become a social meeting place for people who appreciate both nature and culture in Saxon Switzerland.
The lodge is open from Easter through October and serves breakfast with heated sleeping spaces for comfortable stays. Visitors should know that the facility is accessible by foot or car, and advance booking is recommended during peak season.
The lodge sits at 320 meters elevation and hosts a climbing school that has taught beginners and experienced climbers for over twenty years. This long-standing school has made the location a training center for rock climbing in Saxon Switzerland.
