St.-Osdag-Kirche, Romanesque brick church in Mandelsloh, Germany
St.-Osdag-Kirche features a cruciform basilica structure with a square western tower built from turfstone and high central nave walls supported by square pillars.
The church was constructed between 1175 and 1190, making it the first monumental brick building in Northwest Germany, with parts damaged during the Luneburg War in 1384.
The interior walls display monumental paintings from 1421, including an apostle cycle and Trinity representations, alongside ornamental decorations added between 1874 and 1879.
The church remains open for visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offering guided tours by appointment and regular musical performances in its acoustic space.
The church houses three historical bronze bells, with the oldest dating from 1730, and contains a romantic organ built by Philipp Furtwängler & Söhne in 1878.
