Bewegte Steine

Bewegte Steine is a hiking and art trail in Wedemark featuring around 5.5 kilometers of walking paths with stone installations displayed along the route. The path moves through woodlands and open areas with multiple starting points available for visitors to begin their exploration.

The trail opened in 1992 and displays erratic boulders transported from Scandinavia during the ice age. These glacial stones serve as the foundation for the artistic works placed along the path today.

The place merges art with nature by showing how creators engage with the landscape as their canvas. You see how stones become artistic material while the surrounding environment remains untouched and respected.

The route is manageable and takes about two hours of walking time depending on your pace and stops. Sturdy footwear is recommended, especially in wet conditions, to walk safely on the natural paths.

Along the path are special stations with sound stones that produce different tones when struck. These interactive elements invite visitors to experiment directly with the materials and discover physical properties through hands-on engagement.
