Seeckt-Kaserne, Military barracks in Celle, Germany

Seeckt-Kaserne is a military compound located at the northern edge of the Hehlentor district along Hohe Wende and Sprengerstrasse streets, spanning roughly 29 hectares. The site contains several large parade grounds and open spaces that were used for troop movements and vehicle formations.

The compound was constructed between 1936 and 1939 and served until 1945 as a center for Army gas protection training. It specialized in training personnel in chemical warfare procedures.

The compound displays a mix of functional military buildings and open spaces that shaped daily life for those stationed here. The grounds were arranged to allow large troop movements and training exercises to take place.

The grounds are spacious and require time to explore fully, especially if you want to see all areas. It is helpful to plan which sections to visit and keep in mind that much of the site is open and exposed to weather.

The barracks was named after General Hans von Seeckt, an influential military commander during the Weimar Republic. The grounds preserve the original layout and structure from its time as an active military facility.
