Section wall Kröver Burgberg

The Section Wall at Kröver Burgberg is an ancient fortification with a double wall system and forward trenches. The structure spans a considerable area with multiple wall phases showing different building periods from antiquity.

The fortification was built in the Early La Tene period and was rebuilt or reinforced at least twice. Different wall techniques, including dry stone construction and post-slot walls, show distinct building phases across the centuries.

This fortification shows how ancient people protected their settlements and what building techniques they used for defense. You can still see today in the stone walls how much work went into their construction.

The site is located northwest of Kövenig and can be reached on foot via walking trails. The remains are partially overgrown and require some attention when exploring the area.

Excavations uncovered items like pottery sherds and a bronze axe that helped archaeologists determine the exact time period of use. These finds show that this settlement was connected to distant trade networks.
