The Arch of Hadrian is a monumental gateway resembling a Roman triumphal arch.
It was erected by the Athenians in A.D. 131, in honor of Emperor Hadrian.
The arch lies on an ancient street that led from the old city of Athens to the new, Roman-built section of the city.
Today, it stands as a reminder of the rich history of Athens and is a popular tourist attraction.
Unlike other Roman arches, the Arch of Hadrian features inscriptions on both sides.
