Giannitsa, Provincial capital in Pella Municipality, Greece
Giannitsa is a city in the flat plains of Central Macedonia, situated in a fertile agricultural region. The town spreads across several neighborhoods with a central area that contains shops, restaurants, and public buildings.
The city was founded between 1383 and 1387 by Gazi Evrenos and grew into a center for trade and culture. Over the centuries under Ottoman rule, the town gained economic importance in the region.
The Folklore Museum displays traditional costumes, household items, and agricultural tools that show how people lived and worked in earlier times. Walking through it gives you a sense of the skills and daily routines that defined the community.
The central pedestrian area offers everything visitors need, from shops to restaurants and banking services. The main facilities are close together and easy to reach on foot.
In the early 20th century, a nearby lake was drained away, removing wetlands and creating fertile land for farming. This transformation completely changed the landscape and turned the region into an important agricultural area.
